Increased Sensitivity, a Focus on Family and Instinctive Reactions
Last month was all about communication, expression, truth and wisdom.
As we move towards our next New Moon (in the sign of Cancer) you may feel a drawing in.
Cancer is a sensitive, instinctive sign and with the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars aligned in this sign (at the New Moon) your sensitivity is likely to increase and your mind may be on family matters, home and nurture.
Periodic withdrawals may be necessary to attend to your own needs and to keep your personal care in balance and topped up.
Cancer is the sign of the Mother, so be mindful of how you are looking after your own needs (mothering yourself) as you instinctively take care of those around you.
Overprotection, Worry and Defensive Reactions
Mercury in Cancer could increase a tendency to worry and Mars is not overly comfortable in watery, emotional Cancer, so watch for a tendency to over-protection and to react defensively.
This is a month to be especially mindful of emotional triggers and to look to the real source of your responses.
Perhaps there is an inner need that isn’t being addressed or an emotional wound that is requiring conscious attention and healing?
Meditating near water and listening to its sound may prove particularly soothing, as could salt baths this month.
Intentions for Self Care and Family Healing
This is a great New Moon to set intentions around a new self-care ritual and for bringing about positive change in the family; perhaps through communicating your own needs more clearly or having conversations around emotional matters that need to be resolved.
This may require that you allow yourself to be vulnerable (to drop the defences) and yes, that can bring up fear, but are you ultimately going to feel better resolving those issues or sweeping them under the carpet?
With Chiron and Saturn forming a T Square with this New Moon, feelings of inadequacy or of feeling unsupported could arise related to old emotional wounds.
If it isn’t possible to resolve an outstanding issue then you may need to look at ways that you can increase your own self-love and self acceptance.
How can you attend to what you need right now and ensure that you are providing for and mothering yourself?
Is there a healing modality, technique or a teacher that is instinctively calling to you that you feel will enable you to address your emotions?
Motivated to Care for and Nurture Others
If your self-care barometer is fairly balanced, you will likely feel an increase in your capacity to nurture those around you.
Instinctively tuning in to what they require from you.
With Jupiter squaring Pluto and both Mars and Mercury, be wary of over stretching yourself this month, however and making promises that you can’t keep.

Look for 2 degrees and 47 seconds of Cancer. which is the position of the New Moon.
What does that house (area of life) represent?
Are there any planets, which fall at (or very close to) 2 degrees within your natal chart?
