Tomorrow, we are set to encounter the first hit of two long term transits of growth.

As usual, the extent to which these transits will affect you on a personal level depends upon your individual birth chart (more on that later) 

How they play out will depend; not only on where they feature within your chart, but in how you respond  to them.

So, here’s a heads up to help you prepare…

Ambition, Challenge and the Potential for Powerful Growth

The Jupiter/Pluto Square is the first transit. Due to exact at 07:28am here in Brisbane (AEST),it will be in effect until early August 2017.

Jupiter/Pluto is big energy and a square is an aspect of challenge, so if this happens to be hitting your chart, you may at times feel stretched and pushed to the limit.

This is the type of energy that can move mountains, but it can also create tension, so be mindful of stress and look after your body with regular workouts, time out in nature and nutritious food.

The potential for powerful growth is big and this is ambitious energy, but Jupiter’s placement in Libra is a reminder that balance will be important to prevent burn out and lopsidedness; especially if you seem to be juggling many different demands on your time and energy.

If you tend to reach for the sweet stuff when stress levels peak this could be exacerbated at this time, as Jupiter can tend to excess and Libra is the sign ruling sugar.

To mitigate falling into bad health habits, it may help to have some more healthful sweet treats to hand; such as fresh fruit or maybe try my chocolate bliss balls or chocolate avocado cake,which can both be kept in the freezer (cut the avocado cake into portions).

Balance, Equality and Fairness

Jupiter in Libra also brings up themes of equality, balance, justice and fairness, which  may well be bought to the fore both on a personal and a wider scale and with Pluto in the sign of Capricorn something related to the structure of your life is likely up for transformation and change.

On the global scale, there could be a push for reform around these themes aimed at those in power, which makes me wonder if the topic of same-sex marriage is set to come to the fore again in the next few months and maybe this time (hopefully) those marriage rights will be given here in Australia.

Abundance and Bounty

The tipping of the scales (balance) may also apply in the abundant sense. If you were strongly affected by Saturn’s restrictive tendencies during 2016, you may now find that Jupiter is bringing you opportunity(ies) that open you up to greater abundance.

Jupiter transits are synonymous with ‘more of’, so if this transit is affecting you financially you could be in for some good news.

It’s unlikely to fall into your lap with this set up, however and such bounty is likely going to have to be strived for.

Relationships and the Fear of Transformation and Growth

With Pluto sitting tightly conjunct Venus (which also disposits Jupiter) in the chart of this first hit, it’s likely that relationships will undergo some friction.

Perhaps power struggles, resentment or other deeper issues will surface/resurface and demand your attention.

Remember that Jupiter is asking for growth and Pluto is requesting that something be broken down and regenerated, so be mindful of what is coming up and look for the real meaning.

Yes, it can feel scary to have conversations around what it is that you’re not happy with. Especially with Saturn (our fears) currently conjunct Mercury (speech).

We can feel fearful that our loved one will up and leave us or that we may have to experience some kind of confrontation, but if you’re both willing to grow together, just think where those conversations could eventually lead to.

And frankly, what’s the alternative?  – To spend your time treading on egg shells, to bury your anger and walk around full of resentment or to live a life that you don’t really want to be living.

Isn’t it better to do the work, no matter how fearful that makes you?

Desire for Independence and Greater Freedom – Inspire me!

Between now and late December (when Jupiter is set to oppose Uranus), you may also find yourself wanting more freedom and independence within a partnership, friendship or other union.

Jupiter seeks inspiration, so make a note of where things feel a little stagnant and see how you can breathe a little excitement back in.

Think Before Speaking and Slow Down

With an emphasis on Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter) in our skies (Sun, Mercury and Saturn) be mindful of thinking before you speak (Mercury), as Sagittarius energy has a reputation for tactlessness and there may also be some lessons (Saturn) to learn around that.

With the Sun in Sagittarius for the next four weeks,  the saying “more haste, less speed” also seems apt. Especially with the Sagittarian tendency to clumsiness.

Slow down and take each day at a time.

How will this transit affect you?

Remember that the extent to how a transit affects you on a personal level relates to the contact that it is making with your personal birth chart.

What happens with the energy will depend on how you react to it and what you choose to do with it.

The houses of your chart represent areas of life. You can follow these three steps to get an idea of where the action is likely going to happen for you:

1. Look for the houses/house that contain(s) from 15 degrees and 46 seconds to 23 degrees and 8 seconds of Libra . This is where Jupiter will be moving through your chart at the time of this transit. This house represents the area of life that is seeking growth, expansion, more of.
2. Now look for the houses/house that contain(s) from 15 degrees and 46 seconds to 19 degrees and 23 seconds of Capricorn. This is where Pluto will be moving through your chart at the time of this transit. Which area of your life is ready for some transformation, renovation, regeneration?
3. Now look for any planets that you have in your natal chart that are placed at these degrees (15 degrees to 23 degrees of Libra and 15 degrees to 19 degrees of Capricorn). These planets will be activated by this transit. What do they represent?

If the Jupiter/Pluto square activates planets within your chart (point 3) then you are likely to be strongly affected by this energy.
